We talked to Guy Rutland from Trans Carribean in the summer and we found out the following:
- All 63 lots at Sunset Beach have been sold.
- Trans Carribean has a new development a few miles east of Sunset Beach. It will be a gated community called Sunset Shores with 90 lots.
- Trans Carribean also owns the land immediately east of Sunset Beach and they will eventually be selling another 200 lots.
- There are 4 owners who have their final permits to build. All are using different architects. Some may be completed by January or February 2008.
- We asked him about rumors that the shrimp farm might become a golf course. He said that it was just a rumor and that the land would be tied up in the courts for some time.
We are also very lucky to have an owner who lives only 20 minutes from Sunset Beach and he told us the following information:
- Hurrican Dean passed well to the west and they just got a little wind and rain.
- Just a heads up about the proposed airport. According to the Diario de Yucatan, the airport project will still be funded, HOWEVER now there is some uncertainty about where it will be built. The two options are near Hunucma as previously proposed, or between Progreso and Merida near San Ignacio, which is about 7k from Progreso.
- The power poles and meters are in.
